Introducing The Setting Sun Web Solutions: How a Side Project Became Something Bigger

Creating modern, affordable, and maintainable websites for people and organizations doing meaningful work.

Every website starts with a blank screen.

For me, it started with a simple question: Why are so many research labs, student initiatives, and small organizations forced to choose between expensive agencies and outdated websites?

Over the last few years, while studying, working on research projects, and exploring web development, I had the opportunity to interact with researchers, professors, students, and small organizations that needed a strong digital presence. What I noticed was surprisingly consistent. Many of them had incredible work to showcase but lacked a website that truly reflected their efforts.

That observation eventually led to the creation of The Setting Sun Web Solutions.

This isn't a large company with dozens of employees or a fancy office. It started as a small initiative driven by curiosity, creativity, and a desire to build useful digital experiences. The goal was simple: create modern, affordable, and maintainable websites for people and organizations doing meaningful work.

Over time, the projects became more ambitious.

One of the early milestones was developing a dynamic website for the Host–Pathogen Interaction Laboratory at IISER Kolkata, allowing researchers to manage publications, news, team members, and research activities through an intuitive administrative dashboard. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to build a modern web platform for the Quantum Theory of Functional Materials Research Group, combining contemporary design with a content management system tailored to scientific workflows.

Along the way, I also worked on portfolio websites, custom web applications, database-driven systems, and various experimental projects that helped shape both my technical skills and design philosophy.

What makes The Setting Sun Web Solutions different is not just the technology stack. It's the approach.

Every project begins with understanding the people behind it. A research laboratory has very different requirements from a startup. A student-led initiative has different constraints from a business. Instead of forcing every client into the same template, the focus is on building solutions that fit their goals, workflows, and budgets.

As the name suggests, a setting sun represents transition. It marks the end of one phase and the beginning of another. That idea resonates strongly with what this venture aims to do—help organizations transition from outdated digital experiences to modern, engaging, and scalable platforms.

Today, The Setting Sun Web Solutions is still growing. There is a lot left to learn, many ideas to explore, and countless improvements to make. But every project completed, every challenge solved, and every satisfied client reinforces the same belief:

Good web design isn't just about aesthetics. It's about helping people communicate their work, tell their stories, and connect with others.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, collaborated, trusted, and inspired this journey so far. The next chapter is just getting started, and I'm excited to see where it leads.
